I know myself very well and one of my biggest, long term problems is procrastination. I can procrastinate like a champ especially if I don’t have a deadline. No deadline means things get done when they get done. !No buenño! So, earlier this week when I said I’d call the CrossFit studio and make an appointment I set a deadline. And planned to call. Instead I sent an email this morning and just like that – this afternoon I was in the studio doing my first CrossFit workout!

In July, I purchased a CrossFit groupon so I now have 20 sessions of CrossFit at CrossFit Around the Corner. Today was my introductory course and now I’m ready to be all in! I have to add – Lorraine took her first class today and seeing that motivated me go ahead and get out there (to get bikini ready we’ve both vowed to do better with strength training and are pursuing CrossFit).
Today’s workout was seven minutes long. Actually, before we did the workout we got an overview of CrossFit from Gary the owner of the studio and then we warmed up. 100 Jump Ropes, 5 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, and 7 wall balls later we started the workout. The workout was 7 minutes. Yup, 7 minutes long – 7 burpees and 7 wall balls = one cycle. We were tasked with doing as many cycles in 7 minutes as possible. Well, I’ll tell you that burpees kicked my butt. I wanted to get them right so I took my time. I’ll get burpees in time but I’m happy that I did 4.5 cycles in the 7 minute time frame.

After a cool-down (walking the parking lot for 3 laps and stretching) we were given the opportunity to ask questions and get clarity. My clarity came in the form of determination. It is clear to me after the first workout that I won’t be giving away my 20 classes and I will see results! This means I have to commit to eating healthy.
Truly commit.
I’m ready.
And I’ll be wearing my bikini again in no time!

Yay You! I’m so glad we are there to help motivate each other!
Winks & Smiles!
Girl, yeah! This time around no playing. We are going to do the damn thing!
I’m excited for you! This is my 5th week of CrossFit and it has challenged me so much! It has totally taken me out of my “Cardio Comfort” zone and pushed me more than any strength training that I have done on my own. I look forward to hearing about your success!
Thanks Dawn! And you must tell me -have you seen results? What type? I’m trying to get bikini ready for December but honestly I want to be toned and have definition in my muscles for the long term.
I have heard some great things about CrossFit – I need to see if there’s one nearby me. Good luck!!
Thanks Lindsay! I’ll be sure to document my progress here!
Fantastic meeting you at BlogHer! I’ve been hearing so much about crossfit and I’m curious to see how you enjoy it. My biggest issue is strength – I feel SO weak since having my daughter 2 years ago. Looking forward to hearing more!
Crossfit helps to build strength which is why I’m doing it. I want muscles and definition. Crossfit combined with changing my diet should do the trick! Great meeting you too!
