I cannot believe I am mere weeks away from my marathon – 4 weeks to be exact. Today I have 18 miles on tap and plan on running Vegas before the conference that I am attending starts. At this point, it is critical that I try out new things in advance of the race. I will not run in new shoes, wearing new clothes or anything that has not been tested on a long run. I have my new hydration backpack by Rook and I am crossing my fingers that it works. The only think I wil have to figure out is how to ensure I have cold water. But I suppose any water will do!
Next, I’m trying out my running outfit. This is the first time I am attempting to run in a skirt with very small shorties underneath. You better believe that GLIDE will be my best friend. I cannot deal with chaffing!
Finally, I am trying out a new hydration method to keep up my electrolytes. I tried this out in the store it is pretty sweet but I was told to use half of the tube and drink it before my runs. My only concern about this particular product is that it contains caffeine. I hate stopping for the restroom when I run and sometimes caffeine stimulates my system and it is necessary to pee. Let’s hope that is not the case because my running route is in the desert – no pit stops!
