This week’s weigh in portion of the post will be quick. My scale read 155.4 this morning down from 158. I have had a total loss of 18.6 pounds since August 27th! Woot! I’m happy about that and soon will be at 150 pounds again. This weight loss and maintenance is no joke! Here is my latest video update, I had to shoot outside because the fall colors are glorious!
And now onto what I am wearing for the Marine Corps Marathon. You do know that in 4 days I will be running 26.2 miles, right? Well, on that journey it is essential that I am outfitted properly. So here it goes, my race day essentials!
First up, my outfit!
You may have seen my firecracker top before but the colors are patriotic and right on time for the theme of the marathon. I actually purchased this top at the Peachtree Road Race expo way back in July. This has given me ample time to run in it and ensure it is appropriate for race day. The top is from Run Pretty Far I met the owner, Jen at the expo and she was so sweet!
Although you can’t tell from the photo, what looks like a white skirt with red and blue stars (you see the theme, right) is actually a skirt/capri combo. I added matching running sleeves because I know it will be chilly on the morning of the race. If I get hot, I can always pull my sleeves down. These beauties are from Running Skirts, I’ve always admired their cute running gear and finally broke down and purchased some! They have the absolute BEST customer service and even a skirt fairy who you can chat with as you are browsing and making purchases to help you! I will be saying hello to these lovely ladies in D.C. at the expo!
Next up, my shoes! Obviously I need a great pair of running shoes to get me through the 26.2 miles. I will be running in the Mizuno Wave Enigma 2 these are the latest shoes in my running collection and were sent to me by Mizuno. I really like them a lot, they have a lot of bounce and support. I’ve taken them out on long runs and really like them so they are the shoe for my race! I’ll do a full review of them soon.
Here are items that I can’t run long distance without! My zipfizz, I take it about 30 minutes before my run, it gives me energy and is full of vitamins. My second skin blister kit. I don’t think I’ve ever discussed this but no matter what I do my feet blister. I’ve tried new socks, shoes, everything! So, this kit provides cushion for my hot spots and keeps the damage to a minimum. Glide, I’ve talked about this product before. I must be GREASED up from head to toe because chaffing is REAL when running long distance. Glide works for me like a charm, no chaffing! And finally Sport Beans, these are my fuel of choice. My plan is to chew on them every 6 miles to keep my energy up. And finally….
My iPhone and my Sony headphones. I ALWAYS run with my iPhone. I like to take pictures, video, and of course listen to music. These sports headphones are the best, they do not fall off at all. I wore them for my 21.5 run and loved them. I kinda wish I’d purchased the ones with a phone mic so I could talk on the phone while running. Oh, well. But if you are in the market for new headphones, these are my pick!
So, there you have it, I am race day ready! I will be sporting my Moving Comfort Fiona bra to keep the girls in check and my Nike running underwear which I love. My socks are still up in the air. As I’m packing I can’t find my favorite champion pair, so I may just run in my Injiji. But since I don’t leave until Friday, I am hoping to find the Champion sock, if I don’t I may just go buy some new ones!
