Running Jamaica

Can you feel it? The warm Caribbean breeze gently caressing your skin. The tranquil ebb and flow of the tide gently lapping upon the beach. The white sandy beach stretching as far as you can see. Oh, how i long for the suns rays to kiss my face as I frolic in the sea. My idea of a perfect tropical vacation.

Almost.

Add one of my closest buddies to the mix and a race? Now THAT is perfection!

This image was closely mimicked last December when Lorraine and I travled to Miami for the Rock and Roll Miami Beach Half-Marathon. We had a wonderful time but we both knew that our ultimate getaway would be to run the Jamaica Reggae Marathon/Half-Marathon in Negril.  We put the idea on hold but sometime in June I decided that come Hell or highwater, I was going to run this race! I announced it on facebook – because once I do, I hold myself accountable – and without thought to how it was going to happen I just believed it would happen. I texted or called Lorraine and said WE ARE GOING! And then the magic happened!

Unbeknownst to me, my fairy God-Mother who I have known since I started blogging and gave me my first break blogging started working behind the scenes to help make this dream come true. THANK YOU Maria! This year Lorraine and I will be running the Reggae Half-Marathon and staying at the beautiful Beaches Negril Resort and Spa!

As much as I am looking forward to running my first international race, I must tell you I am so excited about staying at Beaches Negril Resort and Spa! An all-inclusive resort with 7 restaurants, a private island with waterpark and of course the fabulous beach. This is epic! I truly look forward to sharing the experience with you.

Whoo hoo! Hubby and I walked the Reggae Half in 2010 and it was such a great experience. You will love it and I can’t wait to hear about your resort stay. We usually stay at Couples Swept Away who hosts the pasta party for the race.

Such good times!
