I am so bad about stretching but when I don’t stretch my body complains. Endlessly! So, to incorporate stretching into my routine in a way that is both soothing and enjoyable, I am starting to do yoga. I’ve been a fan in the past but I’ve been lax about adding it to my workouts lately. This video from ING provides some great yoga poses for runners. So, if you are a runner or even want to add a little yoga to your life, watch and learn!

Stretching has always been one of those hit or miss things with me. After a hard run, the only thing I’m thinking about is resting. So I’ve recently added yoga to my weekly routine, 3 days a week…I do a 35 minute routine from a DVD box set I purchased called Yoga for Beginners and I must say that it’s helping already. I also do Power 90 and that incorporates some yoga in the early part of the routine as well…very beneficial!

I just got back into Bikram Yoga a couple months ago. It’s a 90 min class and it is HOT! I try to go at least twice a week and find that it’s great for stretching and strengthening the core . Oh, another benefit from my Bikram class is that on the days I take an evening class, I sleep like a baby that night :) .

Oh man, I love Pigeon to stretch out my hips with running – my hip flexors get soooo tight! It’s so uncomfortable but always worth it. Great collection of poses! Another great one for runners is Half Moon. Takes some balance work but you can do it with a yoga block if your balance isn’t so great. Really gets that IT band!
