It is hard to believe it but in just two short weeks- actually in 13 days – I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon. Me. Running a marathon. WOW! The only other person in my family to have run a marathon was my dad way back in the 70s or early 80s and although he trained, he barely crossed the finish line standing. As a matter of fact, his finish was so dramatic that it was featured in the newspaper. I think knowing about his experience has made me extraordinarily cautious about this first race. I have plans to take my time and enjoy the scenery, the crowd support and the other runners. It may take me FOREVER but I’ll be the little train that could and finish on my two feet, feeling strong.
Although I know most of you won’t be able to join me in Washington, D.C. for this momentous occasion it is my hope that you can support me in a different way. By running on October 27th or 28th in the virtual Zooma Florida kickoff run. As you know, I am a Zooma race ambassador and would love to have you dedicate your run – no matter the distance to this virtual kickoff. There will be prizes randomly awarded to folks who post run photos on the Zooma facebook page or write a blog post. So, can you do this with me? Will you virtually run with me the weekend of my marathon?
I hope so! Let me know in the comments if you will come along for the ride and I’ll be sure to remind you to post your photo/blog so you will be eligible for a prize! And don’t forget, if you want to grab a few girlfriends and run Zooma Florida (who doesn’t want to visit Amelia Island and stay at the Four Seasons?) you can register for the 5k or Half-marathon and get 10% off by using the code FLAMB6!
